What People Are Saying
“The Pink House launched us into a journey of prayer, mission and justice that has continued for 20 years from working with refugees in Fresno to street kids in Delhi to working in peace and reconciliation projects in Turkey!”
- Saji & Bindu Oommen (1999-2000 alum)
“I am the most grateful for my experience at the CCDA Conference and the 10 month experience of living in community. CCDA just completely flipped my world on its head. I had to rethink the way that I approach issues of mass incarceration, my whiteness, my view of God, and so many other things. There are few experiences that can match how alive I felt worshipping. I also am grateful for my experience of living in community. I left the program reminded that we were created to be and live in community. We need good people who might not always look like or think like us around us to love, challenge, and journey with us. I believe that it is nearly impossible to live into the person God created us to be, without community”
- Justin Dueck (2017-18 alum)
“During my 10-month Pink house experience, I grew in my faith, experienced and learned new ways in which I could better serve my community. I was challenged to dive deep into social, economic, and racial issues affecting families to this day. I learned what it meant to live in a community with other people coming from different backgrounds. I am grateful that I was able to share my story and let my community walk alongside me in my healing process. It was not an easy journey but it was worth it for my personal growth.
- Rocio Claros (2017-18 alum)
“The Pink House opens up your worldview and connects you with the heart of God for the city in real and tangible ways! I gained a lifelong commitment to serving under-resourced communities in an economic way. This was transformative for me and my faith journey and now is hopefully lasting to my kids as well! The Pink House benefits Fresno by invigorating and providing a sense of purpose to live intentionally wherever God may have you!”
- Bryan Feil (2007-08 alum)
Program Overview
This program is an intensive and intentional time of exploration and growth centered around three key values:
Biblical Justice
Intentional Community
Leadership Development
We will ask you to invest time to read, study, reflect, listen, and pray. We will ask you to learn by doing as a volunteer, with community partners or in church ministries. We will introduce you to Biblical, practical Christian Community Development (CCD) principles evolved from years of living and working among the poor. We will ask you to let God expand your worldview, your mind, your heart, and your dreams.
Weekly classes will introduce you to local leaders and CCD practitioners. You will attend two national conferences and two ministry house retreats. We will provide other perspectives through which to view our city and its issues, opportunities to more deeply know yourself and others, and a mentor with whom you can process your experiences.
It will not be easy, and it will be worth it!
